For West Bridgford based artist Helen Woodford, art is all about life’s little details. “My work ranges from detailed observational drawings to architectural studies, bespoke wedding stationary and gifts and art work for children. I use photographs and sketches as a starting point, and historical research if applicable. I have a degree in Art History so I’m always interested in the background to my subjects.”
Working from her studio at home in Musters Road, Helen’s art is predominantly created with pen and watercolour. “I love the variety of tones and colours that can be achieved in the paint. A fine pen gives me the crisp quality that characterises my drawings.” Helen says her designs can then be transferred to digital format and manipulated for different purposes, such as content for a website or stationary for a special event.
Nothing brings Helen more joy than capturing the essence of a day, a moment, a life or a memory. Many of her bespoke pieces occupy pride of place on mantlepieces and walls across the country. “I feel very honoured that people choose to put my artwork up in their homes and that I have been given an insight into their lives in order to create something they will love.”A qualified art teacher, Helen also offers private classes and workshops to suit specific media, ages and abilites. She is a regular stallholder at the monthly Melton Road Market. You can browse Helen’s portfolio, purchase art, discuss commissions, and children can enjoy taking part in fun art activities.
